Hill Road Animal Rescue:
BSHR, along with Project Spirit Horse and the Klamath Humane Society, recently participated in an animal rescue at a local ranch. The ranch was owned by an elderly woman who could not provide the proper care for a large number of horses, sheep, and cattle. The Klamath Humane Society and District Attorney's office were eventually forced to legally seize her animals.
BSHR was responsible for rounding up approximately 55 horses that were in horrific living conditions and required immediate medical attention; it was a major undertaking to round up the frightened and abused horses for transport to the ranch. After two days of attempting to coax the horses into a temporary holding facility without adding to their trauma, BSHR was successful at gaining their trust enough to transport them to the ranch where they would be treated and rehabilitated.
Dr. Taylor Hyde D.V.M. of Chiloquin, Oregon, has been our veterinarian for over 15 years and we are extremely appreciative of his continuing efforts to heal our rescued horses. Upon the arrival of the 55 rescued horses, he administered vaccinations, started a de-worming program and gelded the main stallions, another example of his major contributions to our organization. His care and compassion for these animals is evident in everything he does for them. Thank you Dr. Hyde!

Nadine Hoy of Project Spirit played an integral part in rescuing these abused animals, which are now recovering in our caring environment. BSHR would like to recognize Klamath County District Attorney, Ed Caleb, who was instrumental in completing the necessary legal process for the seizure of the abused animals. Charlotte Barks of the Klamath Humane Society, whose insatiable drive to rescue abused animals has inspired us to continue our rescue efforts.
